Stephen Elop is the executive vice president of the Microsoft Devices Group overseeing an expanded devices business that includes Lumia smartphones and tablets, Nokia mobile phones, Xbox hardware, Surface, Perceptive Pixel products, and accessories. Elop rejoined Microsoft in April 2014 following the company's acquisition of the Nokia Devices and Services business.

Stephen Elop, Microsoft Devices Group - CTIA 2014 KeynoteAs Nokia's president and chief executive officer from 2010 to 2013, Elop led the company through a major strategy change where Nokia and Microsoft formed a partnership to build a third ecosystem in mobility with Windows Phone. He focused the smart devices business around industry-leading strengths in imaging, location-based services, and design. At the same time, he forged a strategy to connect the next billion people, bringing affordable smartphones and sophisticated feature phones to global consumers. Over three years, Elop led Nokia through a significant cultural change that resulted in historic levels of employee engagement.

Elop joined Nokia from Microsoft where he was president of the business division overseeing Microsoft Office, communications tools and applications. He previously served as chief operating officer of Juniper Networks, president of worldwide field operations at Adobe Systems, and president and chief executive officer of Macromedia (acquired by Adobe in 2005).

Elop earned a bachelor's degree in computer engineering and management from McMaster University in Hamilton, Canada, his home country, and was subsequently awarded an honorary doctor of laws degree. A father of five, he's an active pilot and dedicated ice-hockey fan.
